2012 Updates

Wow I can't believe I didn't Blog all last year. I must have been really occupied. Well let's see. I went on over 20 commercial auditions and had a few calls backs too. Also auditioned for a few network television programs like Political Animals.  2012 did bring a lot of new opportunities for me and one of the saddest news I have ever faced. So I started the year off with a few print ad auditions in January, saw Memphis (not my favorite play), screened J. Edgar - Leonardo was awesome. February - Screened Pariah - Adepero Oduy said she did the short film 6 years prior and now she gets so many scripts and calls, her life has changed drastically, plus Merryl Streep mentioned her at the Academy Awards - God Bless her. I also screened My life as Marilyn, Michelle Williams was awesome!!! Then saw Stick Fly - Great Play it should've had a longer run on Broadway. Auditioned for Allstate commercial. Got a call back and booked in March - then which happens - got release before I got the chance to let the good feeling soak in. Started a new job on the 19th with the Federal Government, like it enough to stay, did it in one Interview, while others had 5. Thank God for a job, tired of not having enough funds. Now making survival money to put right back into the career. Booked a stage reading - The Evolution of the Unwritten Girls, played 5 different characters 2 of which were the boys, lol - the director said, Kubbi was all the man we needed. As an actor you have to commit to every roll you play and make it believable, which the audience loved. We got great responses. In may I went to visit one of my best friends in Dallas, She owns her own successful company - she inspires me to stay focused and keep working hard, it will all payoff, that was in May. June the print ad and commercial auditions continued. Assisted in the casting for "In Black and White" - very different to sit behind the desk, you gain a whole new respect for casting directors, also frustrates you when actors are unprofessional. Booked a print ad job for Getty Images shot upstate in Woodstock, NY in August - the requested me back for a second day. Then rehearsals for In Black and White started, I play the ring girl and god - a surprise ending for the show.  Ended up getting massive attention, ended up being treated like the lead, final bows, it was amazing. Took a break and went on Vacation in September to St Marteen had a ball. Went to Porgy and Bess - I cried - It was amazing and then was apart of the Derelict fashion show, hilarious. In Black and White went up in October, and celebrated my birthday. There is nothing like doing what you love for your Birthday, my friend Gail from Dallas came down for the show and gave me a bouquet of flowers as I was taking my bows, got a standing ovation. Awesome. In November, I volunteered for the Greenpoint Choir, it was a blessing to be apart of that Choir and December was the Publicist and Ann Scrooge in the Prodigal Scrooge at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center. There will be a separate blog for my sorrow of 2012. Gotta go to bed now, gotta go to work in the morning.
