2011 is Here!!!

Well it's the New Year and I'm excited about it but I'm more calm about it then I was about 2010. I think, I'm easing into this year because I'm expecting it to be more spectacular than last year.  I'm expecting to reap all the benefits from all of my hard work from last year. So far this month I have gone on 3 auditions, got one call back but didn't book because I looked too young.  I wasn't up set about not booking anything yet because the year just started and looking too young for a part isn't always a bad thing. It does mean longevity in the industry and that is what I really want. I want to be able to perform the rest of my life. There are some things so far this year I definitely want to accomplish and that is paying my tithes first. So I have decided that as soon as I get paid I will pay my tithes first - online- that way it can come out of my account asap. Then I will pay my rent, then the rest of the bills.  So far so good. The weight of not having enough money didn't bother me this time because I did the right thing and put God first instead of nickel and diming, which isn't good at all. The funny thing is at Church this past Sunday, the guest preacher Rev Trimm stated that she had a curse on her finances because she wasn't paying her tithes and it is true and scripturely sound, because it says you will reap sparingly if you sow sparingly and you will be cursed with a curse. I know that is true for me because at the end of the year I always ended up with nothing - 2010 was the hardest financially for me. I had been borrowing money ever other week and over drafting my account for months, The bank was richer because of all my over drafts, but no more. I'm working my way to getting out of debt and the only way is to do the right thing.  The pastor said all fortune 500 companies tithe.  The CEO has a vision and the workers help the vision to come to life, it's the energy that is used. the mind, imagination & the vision is what makes people successful. Not those who work with their hands because the energy is limited to your physical state. But your mind energy is so great because it's unlimited energy. So in order for my vision to come to life, I have to put things in order and perspective. Render Unto God what belongs to Him 10 cents of every dollar. That's not a lot. Especially when folks are quick to buy LV bags, Chanel jewelry, DVDs, go out to eat, etc. if you can spend money on a movie you can pay your tithe.  So that's what I'm going to do.  Watch how things develop and change in my finances.  The pastor did call everyone up to the alter who wanted the curse lifted off their finances, man, I couldn't get there fast enough. So when she prayed for the release of the curse and said the old things have past away and forgotten, I knew that I was released. So now all things are possible when you believe. The one thing I do have to say, even though I was picking at my tithes as the pastor called it - God still gave me grace because I always had just enough. Even if I borrowed it.  Plus I had just enough to learn my lesson. LOL - so to speak. I'm going to be consistent and do the right thing.  There will be blessings from Heaven in 2011.  Be strong, stay true and I will keep you updated.  The film is coming along fine just a few bumps but I will discuss that at the Kubbic Inch Blog.

Commercials and Commercial Print Ads

Well this has been an eventful 3 weeks, I went to Philly twice, one was for a print ad audition and one was for a commercial. Then I had a great audition for Honey Bunches of Oats here in NYC through Aboutface and got a call back which I felt went fabulous. I didn't book the commercial but I did book the print ad.  Booking 1 out of 3 auditions isn't bad at all. I booked my first gig for Models on the Move agency, I'm glad cause I had been with agency for awhile and I don't get sent out that often but it really feels good to finally book something for Lucy and myself.  The Ad is to be shot in Philly on December 6th. A wonderful way to end the year. There is still time to book more stuff too. But thank God for a wonderful year.  I'm excited to see what happens in 2011.  I'm expecting to book 5 National Commercials in 2011. So I am positive that I am 5 national commercials. So I'm speaking it into existence. It starts as a thought then changes into an action and brought to fruition.  I am doing a staged reading Thanksgiving weekend in Hudson, NY.  Glad I'm busy. Will keep you posted!!

Finally met with my agent at About Face

Monday, I finally met with my agent Sonia with About Face - It was like meeting an old friend.  I had to do an informal audition for her and the other agents.  Everything went well. I do need to take more commercial classes, to smooth out the flow of delivery.  They suggested that I do voice overs, which is something I've been wanting to do.  I need to take voice over classes too.  I'm going to see if the SAG conservatory is offering them. You can't beat $20 a year for classes.  The best thing is that Sonia called me for a national commercial audition. I was so excited.  I'm so ready to book a national commercial.  The audition went well and I'm confident that soon I will book a lot of commercials and feature films.  I do have a show in Hudson, NY on November 27th, I'm playing a sexy assistant. The play is called Vacuum.  It is an Equity Showcase staged reading.  I will let you know how it goes.  This year has been fabulous.  Can't wait to see what God brings next year.

Dansko Shoes Print Ad

I have booked a Dansko Print Ad in Philly. I didn't have to audition. They cast me from my photos on the agency website.  Now those are the auditions I like.  The ad has been pushed back 3 times. So now I am scheduled for September 16, 2010. I hope this time it goes through. I have too much to do with the film coming up September 30, 2010. I'm working on learning my lines now. Shenika's Redemption, I'm hoping it will help launch my career to where I can start getting more work. And I hope my friends can start getting more work too.  So I'm praying the film will help all of us. If the quality of acting is there then the rest is up to the Lord. So prayerfully we will have a breakout hit and star.

Lamman Rucker -"Waiting On You"

One of the best Poems about a man waiting on God to send him the woman that is meant for him. How awesome.

Everything is possible when you Believe

I have started on a great journey and adventure. I have started my own publishing company called Kubbic Inch Productions. It is a lot of work and I try not to let a day go by where I'm not working on my film or my company. The first film is my short film I wrote called "Shenika's Redemption" - So far so good. All things are falling into place. Mom is making the dresses I need, My Production manager Zindy is getting other things together.  Well anyway I will save the rest of the story on the Kubbic Inch Blog.  But as for me the Actress - I'm still excited about the new show, Dysfunction. Hopefully we start rehearsals on time. I am the lead and we are opening at the Apollo. How wonderful is that.  I also just finished performing as Titania in Daydream: Midsummer Night's Dream short version. I love doing that show. I'm still so inspired. I feel like I'm on my way to so much more that I cannot even imagine it.  I went to Saint Thomas It was beautiful, I will post pictures too.
