The Negro Ensemble Company & The Paul Robeson Theater

I auditioned for the Negro Ensemble Company August 30, 2009. I was accepted into their 10 week Workshop Program. After I complete the program I will be a full member of the company and I will be part of a great history of the theater. With the likes of Denzel, Samuel Jackson, Phylisha Rashad, Moses Gun and many other great actors of color.

I also auditioned for the Paul Robeson theater. The director said that she was impressed with me and she wants me for the lead plus she wants to use me for future projects. I am so excited. God is Good All the Time.

Theater for the New City August 1st - Sept 14, 2009

I have been performing for the Theater for the New City New Street Tour, called Tally Ho! Navigating the Future. I was upgraded to the lead for the Bronx show at Saint Mary's Park. I was

interviewed for Bronx net and they filmed the whole show. I was the first woman ever to get a lead in the street theater. It was an honor and a privilege that Crystal Field the director believed in me that much. I appreciate her so much.

God Why Me

I am leading the cast as Serenity Brown in the Off Broadway Production of "God Why Me." This show is a comedy being held at the Roy Arias Theatre on Mother's Day. I am very excited to be apart of the cast.

Love, Life & Redemption

I played a 70 year old woman (the lead) in Love, Life & Redemption. I had a great time. The cast was a great, we got treated like royalty. We performed in Houston, Texas at the University of Houston. The campus was beautiful.

There is always Shakespeare!

I will be playing the Queen in Cymbeline in March.

Butterflywings: Claudine's Story 2008 Kee Kee Upgrade

This year Butterflywings: Claudine's Story included a Kee Kee Wardrobe update. The performance took place at the Ovens auditorium in Charlotte, NC. I was treated almost like royalty, revisiting the role of Kee Kee. I had the pleasure of performing with Ann McCrary, the great gospel singer with Bobby Jones Ministries and the incomprable Terrell Carter. I would love to do the show again with them. The humility and graciousness of these two are rare in this industry. I am so blessed to have worked with them as well as with a great cast of very talented people. I am looking forward to September 2009, which is in the works for another performance.

James House whom every one knows affectionately as HOUSE - is a very talented and gifted director. He is easy going and gives talent the room to explore their characters. Would gladly work with him again. Soon!!

Lessons in Truth, Equality and Unity: Today’s Accountability

KEYS TO THE PAST - BEFORE revolved around the Native Indigenous Peoples’ perspective before White/European contact and quickly moved through several centuries of history highlighting specific local characters and persons involved in the growth of the area. As with all “theatrical” representations, some people and figures were beautifully created as composite characters who shared the lessons and truths of their lives reflecting how their experiences had the opportunity to shape and change our contemporary futures. The lines that reverberate in my mind still were engrained by the characters Sophie and Emanuel, “servants and/or enslaved people” during a time of change in our country. Emanuel said, “Each man and woman, learns their own lessons from their pasts and chooses to move forward…” Sophie adds, “…or remains in the misery of their past.” This profound statement has a universal commentary, one that is so representative of where we are as a country today.

Native South Carolinian (correction Native New Yorker) Kubbi, now a resident of New York, returned to Gaffney for her second year as a member of 20 the “KEYS” cast. Her portrayal of Sophie, “the faithful servant of the Gaffney family (as stated on her actual tombstone) “was truthful, sincere, and was punctuated by her no-nonsense candor. Sophie was the only black American member of the United Methodist Church during her lifetime and she lived with the Gaffney family her professional career. Kubbi’s performance was rich, steady, and confident.
